France’s 2018 World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann has announced his retirement from international football after a 10-year career with Les Bleus.
The 33-year-old Atletico Madrid forward shared his decision on X, saying, “It is with a heart full of memories that I am closing this chapter of my life.”
Griezmann earned 137 caps, ranking third behind Hugo Lloris and Lilian Thuram, and scored 44 goals, placing him fourth among France’s all-time top scorers.
His final appearance was in France’s UEFA Nations League win over Belgium.
Griezmann’s retirement marks the end of an era for Les Bleus, following Hugo Lloris, Raphael Varane, and Olivier Giroud’s departures.
Coach Didier Deschamps will unveil his next France squad on Thursday for Nations League matches against Israel and Belgium.
