Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has ordered the conduct of fresh local government elections following the Supreme Court’s nullification of the October 5, 2024, polls.
He also directed the Heads of Local Government Administration (HLGAs) to take over the 23 councils until new elections are held.
The governor instructed outgoing chairpersons to hand over to the HLGAs by Monday, March 3, 2025, stressing that his administration would fully comply with the Supreme Court’s ruling.
Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the rule of law, assuring that the court’s judgment would be implemented without reservations.
