Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen continued his remarkable debut season by scoring the opening goal in Galatasaray’s 3-0 victory over Kayserispor, securing the club’s 25th Turkish Super Lig title at RAMS Park.
Osimhen’s goal took his league tally to 25 for the season, contributing to a historic campaign in which he set the record for the most goals ever scored by a foreign player in a single season for Galatasaray, with 35 goals across all competitions. Barış Alper Yılmaz added a second goal, and veteran goalkeeper Fernando Muslera converted a late penalty in what was his final home appearance for the club.
This triumph marks Galatasaray as the first Turkish club to earn a symbolic fifth star, celebrating 25 league championships. The victory also capped a domestic double for the Istanbul side, having already secured the Turkish Cup earlier in the season where Osimhen scored twice in the final.
With two games left in the season, Galatasaray leads the league with 89 points, while their fierce rivals Fenerbahçe, managed by José Mourinho, trail behind with 81 points. Despite their efforts, Fenerbahçe cannot surpass Galatasaray’s point total this season.
Manager Okan Buruk celebrated his third consecutive league title and fourth overall, further cementing his reputation as one of Türkiye’s most successful coaches.
