Nigerian football fans using GoTV were disappointed Tuesday night when sports channels suddenly went offline, missing the Champions League return.

Affected channels included SS BLITZ Africa, SS Football Africa, SS La Liga Africa, SS Select 1, SS Select 2, and ESPN.

Other missing channels were M-Net Movies 4, ROK, Africa Magic Epic, TNT Africa, Al Jazeera, CNN International, Arise News, TVC News Nigeria, and Channels Television.

Subscribers demanded compensation from Multichoice, GoTV’s parent company, citing frustration and disappointment.

Investigations revealed that Intelsat 33e, a geostationary satellite serving Europe, Africa, and Asia-Pacific, suffered a severe power failure on Saturday, causing the outage.
