Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde participated in the US Houston Half-Marathon, successfully completing it in 2 hours 53 minutes, despite facing freezing temperatures of 1°C.
Makinde shared his achievement on X, noting that he finished faster than his time at the 2022 Berkeley Half-Marathon in San Francisco. He expressed his satisfaction, stating, “Though conditions were tough with freezing temperatures at 1 degree Celsius, I finished faster than the Berkeley Half Marathon which I ran about two years ago.”
Additionally, Makinde took part in a 5k fun run the day before, completing it in 38 minutes.
The Houston Half-Marathon is part of an annual three-race event in Houston, which also includes a full marathon and a 5k race.
Ethiopia’s Addisu Gobena won this year’s men’s half-marathon, clocking 59 minutes and 17 seconds.
