Legendary Hollywood actor Gene Hackman, his wife Betsy Arakawa, and their dog were found dead at their New Mexico home on Wednesday afternoon, officials have confirmed.
Denise Avila, Public Information Officer for the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office, stated that deputies discovered the couple during a welfare check after a concerned neighbor reported not seeing them for some time.
Authorities said there were no immediate signs of foul play, though investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of death.
Fans and Hollywood figures have since mourned Hackman, remembering him as one of the most versatile and respected actors of his generation.
The Academy Award-winning actor, best known for The French Connection, The Conversation, and The Royal Tenenbaums, was 95 at the time of his passing.
