Former Ekiti State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Ayodele Fayose, has reiterated his belief in President Bola Tinubu’s leadership while firmly stating that he will not leave the PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking after a meeting with President Tinubu in Lagos, Fayose commended the President’s efforts in stabilizing Nigeria’s economy and steering the country away from economic collapse. He acknowledged that while the reforms have not yielded immediate results, they reflect bold and necessary decisions for national recovery.
Fayose emphasized that his visit to the President was personal and aimed at encouraging him to continue his work for the betterment of Nigerians. He noted that he has long admired Tinubu’s leadership, even during his tenure as a PDP governor. However, despite his support for the President’s policies, Fayose made it clear that he remains loyal to the PDP and has no intention of defecting to the APC.
Addressing concerns about the state of the PDP, Fayose warned that the party is facing serious internal challenges and risks becoming politically irrelevant if urgent steps are not taken to resolve its crisis. He urged party leaders to act decisively to restore stability and unity within the PDP.
“I will not move from PDP to any political party, not even APC,” Fayose declared, reaffirming his commitment to the opposition party despite the growing trend of defection.
