I didn’t say Christians should stop paying tithe — Pastor Enoch Adeboye Sets Record Straight on Tithing Controversy

Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, addressed the recent uproar surrounding his comments on tithing during the church’s October Holy Ghost Service.

Adeboye clarified that he did not advise Christians to stop paying tithes, contrary to online reports.

Instead, he encouraged believers to give more than the traditional 10%, citing personal experience and biblical principles.

“I apologized for any misunderstanding, but I never said stop paying tithes,” Adeboye emphasized. “In fact, 10% should be the minimum. As you grow in faith, increase your giving.”

Adeboye shared a story about committing to tithe 90% of his income and stressed that giving should be a voluntary and progressive act.

Previously, Adeboye had apologized for implying that failing to pay tithes could prevent entry into heaven, stating, “That’s not in the Bible. Holiness and peace with all men matter most.”

Adeboye’s clarification aims to correct misinformation and reaffirm the importance of generous giving in the Christian faith.
