Nigerian rapper and singer Lil Kesh has sparked conversations across social media following his candid remarks about marriage. In a recent interview on The Esther Show, the 31-year-old artist shared his personal stance, stating that he does not believe in marriage, citing high divorce rates and numerous unhappy unions as reasons for his skepticism.
Lil Kesh, known for his hit songs like Shoki and Efejoku, revealed that his decision to remain single stems from his desire to focus on his career and personal growth. He explained that his last relationship ended because he felt he could achieve more on his own, and since then, he has not actively pursued romantic commitments.
“Marriage? Maybe later. But for now, I’m not of that mindset,” Lil Kesh stated. “It’s not like I don’t want to get married because I want to be free or be a playboy—I just don’t believe in marriage. They don’t work. Have you seen the rate of divorces? I have seen a lot of unhappy marriages. That doesn’t mean there aren’t happy ones, but personally, I want a happy home, and I don’t feel like I can do that yet.”
Despite his views, Lil Kesh emphasized that he is not completely opposed to the idea of marriage in the future. He acknowledged that finding the right person could potentially change his perspective, but for now, he remains focused on his career and personal priorities.
