The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will resume its nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in February 2025.

According to a memo dated November 20, 2024, from INEC Secretary Rose Oriaran-Anthony, the exercise will begin at the Local Government Area (LGA) level before extending to the Registration Area (RA) level.

The memo also instructed Resident Electoral Commissioners to prepare for the exercise by ensuring the availability of necessary equipment and materials, including the INEC Voter Enrolment Device (IVED), printers, and CVR forms. Additionally, they were asked to identify and select staff to serve as voter registration officials.

INEC also requested an update on the status of uncollected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to facilitate the printing of a register for display during the registration process.

The CVR exercise was previously suspended in July 2022 in preparation for the 2023 general elections. However, voter registration was carried out in states where off-cycle elections were held.
