The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has distanced itself from a circulating declaration of a sit-at-home protest on October 21 and 22, attributing the order to criminal elements and infiltrators.

A video and voice note had been circulating on social media, warning residents of the South-East to stay indoors on the designated days, with threats against those who fail to comply.

However, IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful, clarified that the group did not issue this declaration.

“We urge our people to ignore the order and go about their normal business on those days,” Powerful stated. “IPOB does not declare unnecessary sit-at-home orders. We have suspended such declarations, and anyone doing so is a criminal element.”

The initial declaration caused widespread panic and disruption in Anambra, with:

– Court cases rescheduled

– School activities postponed

– Panic buying in major markets

– Mid-term breaks announced

IPOB emphasized that residents should disregard the fake order, refusing to give attention to the infiltrators responsible.
