An Israeli airstrike struck Iran’s state-run television station, IRIB, during a live broadcast on Monday, June 16, 2025, as the war between Israel and Iran intensifies.

The explosion disrupted the transmission mid-air, forcing the anchor to flee the studio as dust and debris filled the screen. Broadcasts briefly went off before switching to recorded programming. The strike targeted the IRIB headquarters in Tehran, one of several sites hit in a new wave of Israeli attacks. Israeli officials accused Iran’s state media of serving as a propaganda arm for the regime.

The attack follows days of deadly missile exchanges. At least 250 people have been reported killed in Iran and eight in Israel since the conflict escalated. Iran has condemned the strike and warned of serious retaliation. International calls for de-escalation are growing, as fears of a wider regional war mount.
