Jude Okoye Granted ₦100 Million Bail in N1.38 Billion Fraud Case

A Federal High Court in Lagos has granted bail to Jude Okoye, former manager of the defunct music duo P-Square, who is facing charges of laundering N1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59.

Okoye, who pleaded not guilty, was granted bail set at ₦100 million. As part of the conditions, he must provide two sureties who each own landed property in Lagos valued at ₦100 million. These properties must be verified by the court, and he is prohibited from leaving Nigeria without judicial approval. Until he meets these conditions, he will remain in custody.

The trial is scheduled to commence on April 14, 2025.

The case has further fueled tensions within the Okoye family. His younger brothers, Peter and Paul Okoye, known as P-Square, had a well-publicized split in 2017, partly due to disagreements over Jude’s managerial role. While they briefly reconciled in 2021, fresh disputes emerged in August 2024 when Paul accused Peter of facilitating Jude’s arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Peter alleged that Jude diverted large sums from their joint account into a separate company, prompting him to report the matter to the EFCC.

As the legal battle unfolds, the ongoing feud between the Okoye brothers continues to attract public attention.
