In a momentous address to the joint session of the National Assembly on Democracy Day, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to safeguarding and strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions. Speaking before lawmakers and dignitaries, the President declared:

“I hereby affirm before you, our Merciful and Almighty God and all men, and resolve to do all that I can do to safeguard and build our democracy as the divine hand intends for us to do.”

The President’s speech underscored the resilience of Nigeria’s democratic journey, paying tribute to the sacrifices of past leaders and activists who fought for the nation’s democratic restoration. He acknowledged the pivotal role of Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, whose legacy remains central to the significance of June 12 as Democracy Day.
