Kemi Badenoch Vows Tougher Immigration Policies to Protect UK Services and Identity

Kemi Badenoch, leader of the UK Conservative Party, has vowed to implement tougher immigration measures, warning that the country “cannot sustain” current migration levels.

Acknowledging past Tory governments’ failures to effectively control migration, Badenoch committed to tackling the issue “without fear,” emphasizing the strain it places on public services.

“Immigration is happening at a pace too fast to maintain public services,” she said. “For decades, the political class has presided over mass migration… The system that replaced free movement is not working.”

The Nigerian-born British politician underscored the importance of integration, calling for migrants to embrace British values to foster a shared national identity. She warned that without it, the UK risks significant challenges, including pressure on housing, healthcare, and wages.

Badenoch pledged to review immigration policies, treaties, and laws, including the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and the Human Rights Act, with a focus on stricter visa limits and greater transparency.

She announced plans for a “strict numerical cap” on immigration, allowing visas only for individuals who make “a substantial and clear overall contribution.” She also promised to publish detailed data to reveal the true costs and benefits of different types of migration.

Anticipating the release of new migration figures tomorrow, Badenoch predicted a reduction following measures introduced by the previous government. However, she stressed that politicians must prioritize the needs of British citizens before extending support to others.
