In a significant political move, Kenneth Okonkwo, a veteran Nollywood actor and legal practitioner, has announced his departure from the Labour Party and terminated his support for the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Okonkwo, who previously served as a spokesperson for the Labour Party’s presidential campaign council in the 2023 elections, cited his inability to maintain absolute loyalty to Obi as the reason for his decision.

In a statement, Okonkwo emphasized the importance of loyalty and transparency, stating that he felt obligated to disclose his change of heart. He clarified that his future political endeavors will not involve joining the APC or PDP, but may include consolidating the Labour Party or exploring alternative options.

Okonkwo expressed his desire for a robust political party with a strong grassroots foundation to challenge the existing political establishment.

He stressed the need for a charismatic leader who can build a party of integrity and character from the ground up.
