Kenyan Teacher Aims to Establish Guinness World Record for Longest Science Lesson

Rose Tata Wekesa, a Kenyan biology and chemistry teacher at St. Austin’s Academy, is currently undertaking a challenge to set the Guinness World Record for the longest science lesson taught by an individual, targeting a minimum of 50 hours.

The challenge is taking place at the Multimedia University of Kenya, approximately 16km from Nairobi. As of 8:00 GMT on Thursday, Ms Wekesa had already surpassed 42 hours, with her intention to continue the attempt until Friday.

Expressing her motivation behind the endeavour, she emphasized her goal to showcase the engaging and achievable aspects of science. Ms. Wekesa aims to inspire students aspiring to become teachers, demonstrating that educators can accomplish significant feats beyond the traditional classroom setting.

In preparation for the challenge, she disclosed staying awake for 44 consecutive hours to condition her body.
