The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the people of Ose Local Government Area are mourning the tragic loss of Nelson Adepoyigi, the APC Ward 5 Chairman, who was brutally killed by his abductors despite the payment of a ₦5 million ransom.

Mr. Adepoyigi was kidnapped at the entrance of his residence in Ifon, Ondo State, last Monday. His captors initially demanded ₦100 million for his release but later reduced the amount to ₦5 million after negotiations. Tragically, despite the ransom payment, the kidnappers proceeded to take his life, leaving the community in shock and grief.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Ose Local Government, Kolapo Ojo, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Mr. Adepoyigi as a dedicated leader and a passionate advocate for his community. “This pattern of brazen abductions, even at the very gates of people’s homes, confirms that insecurity has taken a dangerous and intolerable dimension,” he stated.

The Ondo State Police Command has deployed special officers to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice. Meanwhile, local authorities have declared a three-day mourning period in honor of Mr. Adepoyigi, with flags flown at half-mast across the local government area.
