The Kremlin has confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s helicopter was targeted by Ukrainian drones during his recent visit to the Kursk region. Russian air defense forces successfully intercepted and neutralized the incoming drones, ensuring the safety of the presidential convoy.

According to Yury Dashkin, commander of Russia’s air defense division, the attack occurred on May 20 while President Putin was touring the region. Dashkin described the incident as an “unprecedented security threat,” stating that the helicopter was at the “epicenter” of a large-scale drone assault.

Despite the attempted strike, no injuries or damages were reported, and President Putin’s visit proceeded without disruption. Russian officials have launched an investigation into the incident, assessing whether it was a direct assassination attempt or part of a broader military strategy by Kyiv.
