The Labour Party has strongly condemned the arrest of its National Vice Chairman for the South-East, Ceekay Igara, allegedly orchestrated by Abia Governor, Alex Otti.
In a statement issued by Deputy National Chairman, Dr. Ayo Olorunfemi, the party expressed shock and outrage over Igara’s detention by police in Aba while attending a meeting with party leaders without a warrant.
The Labour Party demands:
1. Immediate and unconditional release of Ceekay Igara.
2. Alternatively, Igara should be formally charged to court within 24 hours, as required by law.
The party views this incident as a disturbing development, highlighting concerns about political intolerance and abuse of power.
