A magistrate court in Lagos State has denied a police request to remand Olumide Ogunsanwo, popularly known as “Sea King,” for 30 days pending the conclusion of investigations.

Ogunsanwo’s lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, revealed on Monday that the police accused the TikToker of treason, cybercrime, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

Effiong said the court rejected the remand application and instead granted Ogunsanwo bail of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

“The police filed a remand application and attached frivolous charges against him, but the court rejected it,” Effiong said. “They argued that the case required review by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), but I opposed this, and the court upheld our argument, stating that the police had no probable cause.”

The court stipulated that one of the sureties must be a family member and gainfully employed. Ogunsanwo will remain in Kirikiri prison until the bail conditions are met.

His arrest, linked to TikTok videos where he allegedly cursed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, surfaced on social media on Saturday, sparking public reactions.
