The Federal Government has shut down the Marina-bound section of Independence Bridge in Lagos for maintenance, with the closure expected to last from April 1 to the end of May 2025.

According to the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the closure will disrupt traffic from Ahmadu Bello Way and Adeola Odeku towards Marina, Eko Bridge, and Onikan by Zone 2.

To ease congestion, the Lagos State Government has advised motorists to use alternative routes.

Travelers heading to Victoria Island are encouraged to take Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue through Akin Adesola Street to Falomo Roundabout before linking Obafemi Awolowo Road.

Those going towards the Third Mainland Bridge can follow the same route and connect through Alfred Rewane Road to Osborne Road before reaching Ring Road.

For access to Inner Marina and CMS, diversions have been placed through J.K. Randle Road and King George V Road.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has deployed officials to manage traffic along these routes. Motorists have been urged to remain patient and comply with traffic regulations to ensure a smooth flow during the construction period.
