The Lagos State Government (LASG) has taken decisive action against landlords and property agents who impose arbitrary rent increases, ensuring that residents are protected from unfair and exploitative housing practices.

response to growing concerns over exorbitant rent hikes, the government has implemented strict regulations to curb the indiscriminate rise in rental costs, particularly in urban areas where affordability has become a major challenge for tenants.

A newly established task force will oversee enforcement, ensuring compliance with existing rent control laws and penalizing landlords and agents who flout the regulations. The government has also encouraged tenants to report cases of unjustified rent increments through designated complaint channels.
