Lagos Task Force Seizes 128 Motorcycles in Ongoing Crackdown on Illegal Operations

The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit has impounded 128 motorcycles in a series of operations across various parts of the state.

The crackdown targeted the illegal operation of commercial motorcycles, commonly known as okada, in restricted areas of Lagos.

Task force spokesperson Gbadeyan Abdulraheem disclosed that the operations were conducted in areas including Ikorodu, Ikotun, Berger, and other parts of the state. He emphasized that both riders and passengers would face prosecution if caught violating the ban.

“The Lagos State Task Force continues its rigorous enforcement against the illegal operation of commercial motorcycles in restricted areas,” Abdulraheem stated. “The chairman of the task force, CSP Adetayo Akerele, has reiterated the agency’s commitment to prosecuting both riders and passengers found violating the law. Passengers on okada are as guilty as the riders and will face the full weight of the law.”

He added that all impounded motorcycles would be forfeited to the state government. Residents were urged to comply with regulations to avoid penalties.
