The body of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, is being transported from Lagos to Abuja.
The remains were airlifted from the Nigerian Airforce Wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at 9:00 a.m., headed to the capital. Soldiers of the Guards Brigade are set to receive the fallen leader’s body, ready to honor him with final respects.
Lieutenant General Lagbaja passed away last Tuesday at the age of 56, following an undisclosed illness. He was appointed as Chief of Army Staff by President Bola Tinubu on June 19, 2023.
Once in Abuja, his body will be prepared for additional burial rites before the final interment at the National Military Cemetery, scheduled for Friday, November 15, 2024.
