Stan Alieke, the lawyer representing Darlington, has spoken out about the rapper’s ongoing detention despite a court granting him bail.
In a video shared on Instagram, Alieke accused Burna Boy of possibly influencing the situation by allegedly bribing police officers. He claimed that Burna Boy handed bundles of cash to officers during his initial visit to the police station.
Frustrated, Alieke expressed disappointment over the lack of support from influential figures to help secure Speed Darlington’s release, mentioning that he has already exhausted his personal connections.
Alieke pointed to a court ruling in the case (Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/1832/2024), where Justice Liman of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the rapper’s unconditional release within 48 hours. However, he criticized the police for intentionally disregarding the court’s directive.
He captioned the post: “In suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/1832/2024, between Darlington Achakpo v IGP, Hon. Justice Liman of the Federal High Court, Abuja on Monday, 23/12/2024, ruled that Akpi should be granted unconditional bail by the police within the next 48 hours, but the police have willfully disregarded the order of the court. @nigeriapoliceforce @adejobimuyiwa.”
