Leicester City Sack Steve Cooper Following Poor Premier League Start

Leicester City have announced the departure of manager Steve Cooper after their 2-1 loss to Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Welshman, appointed in the summer after leading the Foxes back to the Premier League with an impressive 97-point Championship season, struggled to replicate that success in the top flight. Leicester has found it difficult to adjust to the demands of the Premier League, leaving the club 16th in the table.

Cooper, previously in charge of Nottingham Forest and Swansea City, managed just four wins in 14 matches during his tenure. In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), Leicester confirmed:

“We have parted company with Steve Cooper, who leaves his position as First Team Manager with immediate effect.”

The club also confirmed that assistant manager Alan Tate and First Team Coach Steve Rands, both of whom joined alongside Cooper, have been relieved of their duties.

Ben Dawson, supported by Danny Alcock and Andy Hughes, will oversee the team on an interim basis as Leicester begins its search for a new manager.
