Manchester United Fire Erik Ten Hag with Immediate Effect After West Ham’s Defeat

Manchester United has parted ways with manager Erik Ten Hag after a dismal run of results.

The Dutchman, 54, was informed of the decision Monday morning, ending his two-and-a-half-year tenure.

The final straw came after a 2-1 loss to West Ham over the weekend. United’s struggles have left them 14th in the Premier League, with just one win in their last eight matches across all competitions.

The club expressed gratitude to Ten Hag in an official statement: “We thank Erik for his contributions and wish him well.”

Ruud van Nistelrooy, former Dutch striker and Ten Hag’s assistant, takes over as interim head coach while the search for a permanent replacement begins.

Ten Hag had survived a summer review despite United’s eighth-place finish last season, boosted by an FA Cup win over Manchester City. However, patience has worn thin.

Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi is rumored to be the top contender to replace Ten Hag.
