A Russian Antonov passenger plane carrying passengers crashed in the country’s far east on Thursday as it was preparing to land, killing everyone on board, the regional governor and investigators said.

There were 42 passengers, including five children, and six crew members on board, all crashed without any survivor.

The plane, operated by Angara Airlines, was hovering around the destination of Tynda, a town in the Amur region bordering when the air traffic control lost contact with the aircraft.

Rescue efforts are ongoing, and investigators will analyse flight data and cockpit recorders once found, it added.
