Mass Burial for Victims of Jigawa Explosion

A catastrophic tanker explosion occurred in Majiya Town, Taura Local Government Area, Jigawa State, claiming 105 lives and leaving 55 others injured.

The tragic incident happened late Tuesday night near Khadija University when the tanker driver lost control of the vehicle.

On Wednesday, a mass burial was held for the victims, with community members gathering to pay their respects. Many of the victims were burned beyond recognition due to the explosion’s intensity.

Injured victims were rushed to Ringim General Hospital, where they are receiving treatment for various degrees of burns and injuries.

The tragic event has sparked widespread sorrow and condolences from across the country. Former President Muhammadu Buhari expressed his sympathies, describing the accident as one of the deadliest tragedies in recent memory.

President Bola Tinubu has directed emergency aid, including medical supplies, food, and shelter, to be provided to the injured and affected individuals. He also dispatched a Federal Government delegation, led by Senator George Akume, to Jigawa State to offer support.

The nation mourns the loss of life and stands in solidarity with the people of Jigawa State during this difficult time.
