In a New Year surprise, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, has agreed to step down as the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos state.

Reports say that MC Oluomo decided to step down after a crucial meeting with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other key stakeholders at the Government House, Alausa, Ikeja.

Oluomo said that he has agreed to cede power to Mustapha Adekunle (Sego), the current Treasurer of the union in Lagos State, with the decision and changes expected to take effect before the end of January 2024.

As part of the deal, MC Oluomo would contest for NURTW National President.

The new developments come after the crisis rocking the NURTW in Lagos State after some leaders of the union passed a vote of no confidence on Oluomo a few days after he was re-elected for a second term a month ago.
