Mojisola Meranda has resigned as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

She announced her resignation during a plenary session on Monday afternoon, describing it as a personal sacrifice to protect the integrity of the legislative institution.

Meranda’s decision comes amid the ongoing leadership crisis in the Assembly, with reports suggesting that her resignation clears the way for the possible reinstatement of impeached former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.

Before stepping down, lawmakers praised Meranda for her leadership and contributions during her tenure.
