Mohbad’s Father Challenges Court Ruling on Naira Marley, Sam Larry By Filing Suit Against Lagos DPP

Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, appears displeased with the court’s decision regarding music star Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry.

Following the recent ruling that freed both men amid investigations into Mohbad’s death, Aloba has filed an application before the Ikeja High Court of Lagos State, challenging the legal advice and recommendations of the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

In the suit marked ID/6197MJR/2025, dated March 12 and filed on March 13, Aloba—through his lawyer, Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN)—is seeking an order to quash the DPP’s legal advice, arguing that it denied him fair hearing under Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution.

He also contends that the DPP’s advice pre-empted the Coroner’s inquest, which has yet to conclude, and that key suspects mentioned in the proceedings were wrongfully cleared.

Aloba, in an 18-paragraph affidavit, reiterated that his son’s death on September 11, 2023, was unnatural and suspicious, prompting his demand for an inquest.

His latest legal action has sparked mixed reactions online, with some netizens expressing frustration over the prolonged case and urging him to move on and lay his son to rest.
