The ongoing murder trial of Timileyin Ajayi, the suspect accused of killing 24-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member Salome Adaidu, took an unexpected turn today as Ajayi was seen praying in court ahead of proceedings.

Ajayi, a gospel singer and self-proclaimed crypto trader, was arrested on February 12, 2025, in Karshi, Nasarawa State, after allegedly murdering and dismembering Adaidu at his residence in the Papalana area of New Karshi. Authorities apprehended him while he was reportedly attempting to dispose of her remains.

During previous interrogations, Ajayi showed no remorse, claiming Adaidu had been unfaithful to him. However, his recent display of prayer in court has sparked mixed reactions, with some interpreting it as an act of repentance while others view it as ironic given the severity of the charges against him.

Justice Simon Aboki of the Nasarawa State High Court has scheduled June 26, 2025, for the final judgment in the case. The defense counsel, Joseph Tuku Bisson, has urged the court to acquit Ajayi, arguing that the prosecution has failed to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt. Meanwhile, the prosecution, led by Joseph Kigbu, maintains that the evidence presented is sufficient to secure a conviction.
