Music Fan Defends Davido’s Claim of Being Integral to Afrobeats, Lists Numerous Achievements

Following Davido’s assertion that Afrobeats cannot be discussed without mentioning his name, critics swiftly countered his statement. However, a staunch Davido fan, Kelly Bonito, has come to the singer’s defense, presenting a compelling list of his groundbreaking achievements in the Afrobeats genre.

Kelly Bonito took to X to highlight Davido’s numerous firsts, including being the first Afrobeats artist to receive RIAA certification, partner with a global record label, perform at the FIFA World Cup final, and have a song certified Gold in the U.S. and Canada.

The fan also noted Davido’s historic wins, such as becoming the first Afrobeats artist to win the BET Best International Act award with a live performance, and having an album receive three Grammy nominations.

Furthermore, Kelly Bonito emphasized Davido’s impressive records, including being the first Afrobeats artist to shut down the O2 Arena, own his own festival, and have a song cross 100M and 200M views on YouTube.
