Suspended Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello of allegedly plotting to assassinate her. She made these shocking claims during a homecoming rally on Tuesday in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, where she was welcomed by a large crowd of supporters, beesreignmedia.com reports
Akpoti-Uduaghan, speaking in both Ebira and English, revealed that the alleged assassination plot was discussed during a secret meeting between Akpabio and Bello. She claimed, “Akpabio expressed dissatisfaction with my growing political influence and sought to eliminate me.
She further explained that on March 13, two days before the meeting, Akpabio had attempted to initiate her recall, calling Governor Ododo to discuss the process. “Ododo told Akpabio that the recall would be impossible because the masses are with me,” she said. “But Akpabio was not satisfied, so he called Yahaya Bello. I was informed of everything.”
According to Akpoti-Uduaghan, Akpabio then contacted Yahaya Bello, suggesting that not only should her recall be funded but that an attempt on her life should be carried out within Kogi State to avoid drawing attention at the federal level. “Akpabio told Yahaya Bello that he should make sure that killing me does not happen in Abuja, that it should happen here so that it will look as if it was the people that killed me here,” she alleged. She also confirmed that she had written to the Inspector General of Police about the threat but had not made the allegations public until now.
