The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has announced that its official website has been compromised by unidentified hackers. The bureau disclosed this in a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday.

The NBS advised the public to ignore any information or reports shared on its behalf through unofficial channels until the website is fully restored. It assured that its technical team is working diligently to resolve the issue.

In its statement, the bureau said, “This is to inform the public that the NBS website has been hacked and we are working to recover it. Please disregard any message or report posted until the website is fully restored.”

A visit to the website confirmed the breach, with the homepage displaying the message “Page Hacked.” Subsequent attempts to access the site resulted in an “Internal Server Error” notification, which directed users to contact the server administrator at [email protected]. Further details were noted to be available in the server’s error log.
