For the second time in 24 hours, Nigeria’s national electricity grid has collapsed, leaving millions without power. Electricity distribution companies (DisCos) announced the collapse, which occurred at 9:17 am on Tuesday.

Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) and Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company confirmed the incident, apologizing for the inconvenience and promising swift restoration.

“This is as a result of the collapse of the national grid which occurred at about 18:05 pm on Monday, October 14th,” Kaduna DisCo stated.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is working to restore supply. However, Abuja Disco announced a scheduled maintenance exercise in parts of the Federal Capital Territory on Wednesday, October 16.

Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) had earlier reported a general system collapse at 18:48 hours on Monday, affecting Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.

The repeated grid collapses have sparked concerns about Nigeria’s electricity infrastructure and the need for urgent solutions to address the persistent power outages.
