The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has launched an investigation into alleged data breaches by TikTok and Truecaller, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA).

Additionally, the commission has introduced the Nigeria Data Protection Act – General Application and Implementation Directive (NDP Act-GAID), which provides detailed guidelines to help data controllers and processors comply with the law.

The NDPC has also unveiled the Standard Notice to Address Grievance (SNAG), a mechanism that allows individuals to seek redress directly from data controllers and processors without first involving the commission.

National Commissioner and NDPC Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Vincent Olatunji, disclosed this in Abuja, stating that the commission is closely examining their compliance with data protection laws.
