Newcastle United secured a commanding 2-0 victory over Arsenal in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, sealing a 4-0 aggregate win and booking their place in the final. Goals from Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon ensured a comfortable night for Eddie Howe’s side at St. James’ Park.

Dominant First Half

The Magpies entered the match with a 2-0 advantage from the first leg at the Emirates Stadium. Newcastle wasted no time asserting their dominance, controlling possession and pressing high against an Arsenal side that struggled to create clear-cut chances.

The breakthrough came in the 32nd minute when Jacob Murphy capitalized on a defensive mix-up to fire a powerful strike past Aaron Ramsdale, sending the home crowd into a frenzy. Arsenal, already under pressure, found themselves further behind just before halftime when Anthony Gordon slotted in Newcastle’s second goal after a well-worked team move.

Arsenal’s Struggles Continue

Mikel Arteta’s side, desperate for a response, showed some urgency in the second half but failed to break down Newcastle’s solid defensive setup. Despite introducing attacking reinforcements, including Leandro Trossard and Eddie Nketiah, Arsenal could not find a way past Martin Dúbravka, who remained largely untested throughout the match.

Newcastle Set for Wembley Showdown

With the aggregate score at 4-0, Newcastle comfortably saw out the remainder of the match, controlling possession and frustrating their opponents. The final whistle confirmed their place in the Carabao Cup final, where they will face either Liverpool or Tottenham.

The victory marks Newcastle’s second Carabao Cup final appearance in as many seasons, and they will now look to lift their first major trophy since 1955.
