Manchester City’s winning streak was halted as Newcastle United secured a 1-1 draw at St James’ Park, thanks to Anthony Gordon’s second-half penalty.

City took the lead in the 35th minute through Josko Gvardiol’s clinical finish, assisted by Jack Grealish.

Despite Mateo Kovacic and Rico Lewis’s strong display in replacing injured Rodri, City conceded in the second half.

Gordon was fouled by Ederson after Bruno Guimaraes’s precise pass, earning a penalty. Gordon converted the spot-kick, sending Ederson the wrong way.

Both teams created chances, with Ilkay Gundogan missing a chip and Sean Longstaff and Bernardo Silva coming close.

The draw marks City’s second dropped points in a week, following their perfect start. Newcastle remains with one win in 34 top-flight meetings against City.
