American rapper Nicki Minaj has opened up about her collaboration with Afrobeats superstar Davido on her track “If It’s Okay”. In a response to a question from a fan on X, Nicki revealed that she featured Davido on the song to infuse it with an authentic Afrobeats tempo.

Nicki praised Davido’s skills as a writer and melody maker, and expressed her pleasure in working with him due to their mutual respect for each other. She explained that she asked Davido to be a part of the song to bring out the Afrobeats feeling in it, and to showcase Nigerian music to the world.

The track “If It’s Okay” is part of the 10th-anniversary special edition of Nicki Minaj’s iconic album The Pinkprint. The commemorative edition features four brand-new tracks, including collaborations with Swae Lee, David Guetta, Davido, and the late Juice WRLD.

This collaboration marks a musical reunion for Nicki and Davido, who previously worked together on the track “Holy Ground” from Davido’s 2020 album A Better Time.
