The Nigeria Police Force issued a statement on Saturday addressing the unauthorized use of its official uniforms by VeryDarkMan (VDM).

VDM recently gained attention with a video in which he presented himself as a Policeman for the online division.

He appeared in attire resembling the Nigerian Police uniform and warned viewers against labeling him as an activist.

In his video, VDM expressed his commitment to addressing social media issues and targeting online vendors.

In response, the Police Force distanced itself from his portrayal and announced an investigation into the source of the Police uniform and the authority behind its use.

The statement highlighted that unauthorized use of Police uniforms, insignia, or equipment is a criminal offense under Section 251 of the Criminal Code and Section 133 of the Penal Code, carrying penalties.

While recognizing the creativity of young content creators, the Force cautioned against misusing Police symbols, emphasizing that such actions undermine the integrity of the organization and will not be tolerated.
