Nigerian Artists Earn Record N58 Billion From Spotify in 2024

Nigerian artists recorded massive earnings in 2024, receiving over N58 billion in royalties from Spotify—more than double the amount earned in the previous year, according to the streaming platform’s latest report.

The report highlights the continued global growth of Nigerian music, with artists from the country being discovered over one billion times by new listeners.

  • Editorial Playlists: More than 1,900 Nigerian artists were featured on Spotify’s editorial playlists, a 33% increase from 2023.
  • Streaming Hours: Nigerian artists accumulated over 1.1 million hours of streams worldwide.
  • Playlist Inclusion: Around 250 million playlists globally featured Nigerian songs.
  • Export Growth: The international reach of Nigerian music has grown by 49% in the past three years.

Spotify’s Managing Director for Sub-Saharan Africa, Jocelyne Muhutu-Remy, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting Nigerian talent, stating that the surge in revenue reflects the country’s growing influence in the global music industry.
