In a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening maternal and newborn healthcare, the First Lady, Remi Tinubu has distributed 10,000 professional kits to midwives and nurses across the Southeast region. The distribution, which took place at a special ceremony, marks a significant step in enhancing the quality of medical services and supporting frontline healthcare workers.

Speaking at the event, the First Lady emphasized the critical role midwives and nurses play in ensuring safe and effective maternal care. She reiterated her commitment to empowering healthcare professionals, stating, “Midwives and nurses are the backbone of our healthcare system, especially in maternal and child health. By equipping them with the right tools, we are ensuring better care for mothers and newborns across the region.”

The kits, designed to meet professional standards, include essential medical supplies such as sterilization equipment, delivery kits, protective gear, and reference materials. Health officials and beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the initiative, noting that it will significantly improve service delivery and reduce maternal and infant mortality rates.
