The Nigerian government has increased the monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to ₦77,000, effective July 2024.

This adjustment aligns with the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024, which raised the national minimum wage to ₦70,000.

NYSC spokesperson Caroline Embu confirmed the increase, citing a letter from the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission. The move follows advocacy efforts by NYSC Director General Brigadier General YD Ahmed for improved corps member welfare.

The previous allowance was ₦33,000. This significant increase aims to enhance the well-being and motivation of NYSC members.
