Nigerian activist VeryDarkMan has been detained again by police following a probe into his unauthorized wearing of a police uniform in a recent video.

The incident began on Saturday, when law enforcement questioned him over the uniform, which stirred controversy and drew official attention. After being invited for further inquiries, VeryDarkMan voluntarily complied, yet remains detained.

Earlier today, he issued a public apology on social media, expressing regret for any offense caused and clarifying that his intention was to promote a positive image of the police.

In a video update, his friend Scopy Lala confirmed that VeryDarkMan had not been released despite his cooperation. Scopy Lala criticized the police, calling out what he saw as a gap between their actions and their professed role as “friends of the common man.” He further noted that VeryDarkMan’s gesture aimed to support, not undermine, the police’s public image.
