Flight Lieutenant Kafayat Sanni, widely recognised as Nigeria’s first female fighter pilot, has broken two new records in Accra, Ghana. Sanni emerged as the Best Allied Student and won the Best Assistant Commandant Paper award at Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC).

She received the awards on Friday during her graduation ceremony, attended by top military officials and dignitaries from different parts of Africa.

Flight Lieutenant Sanni first made headlines in 2019, after completing her pilot training in the United States. Then, she was decorated as the Nigerian Air Force’s first female fighter pilot.

Her outstanding performance at GAFCSC reflects her personal excellence and resilience, as well as underscores Nigeria’s growing leadership in regional defence and commitment to gender inclusion in the armed forces, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar said.
