Several months after its formation, Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Livestock Development (FMLD) has yet to launch an official website or social media accounts, making it the only federal ministry without an online presence. This lack of digital infrastructure raises concerns about the ministry’s accessibility and transparency.
The FMLD was created based on the recommendations of the Presidential Committee on Livestock Reforms, established by President Bola Tinubu in 2023. The committee’s objectives include improving livestock sector productivity, addressing conflicts between pastoralists and farmers, and boosting economic growth.
Despite its official establishment, the ministry still lacks a basic online platform, hindering stakeholders from accessing information or engaging with the ministry directly.
Prof. Attahiru Jega, co-chair of the committee, acknowledged the issue but assured that a website may be developed soon. In the meantime, he recommended that stakeholders refer to the committee’s website for updates and information.
