The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has resolved to proceed with the planned nationwide strike, despite the appeal from the National Assembly’s leadership.

TUC President, Festus Osifo, disclosed this after a closed-door meeting with the National Assembly’s leadership.

According to Osifo, the union and government representatives had reached an advanced stage in their negotiations, but disagreements over figures stalled the signing of an agreement.

He emphasized that calling off the strike at this point is impossible, and the decision will be taken to the union’s national executive council.

Senate President, Godwill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass, urged the labour leaders to reconsider the strike, but their plea was unsuccessful.
